Ms. Hao has asked me to recommend her for admission to graduate study in the field of linguistics at your university. I am more than happy to do so.
Since I am the person in charge of teaching and scientific research, I know Ms. Hao very well. In the summer of 1992, we selected her to the staff from among 20 other job hunters. Her excellent work proves that our decision to employ her was correct. When you first met her, you may consider her a typical oriental girl always with a shy smile, but if you know her better, you will find that she is a cheerful and thoughtful young lady.
For the first and a half year, Ms. Hao worked here, she took part in our academic project semi-automatic English and Chinese/Chinese-English translation. This is a tedious work but requires a high mastery of both English and Chinese. I was really impressed by the efficiency, high quality and originality of Ms. Hao‘s work. One of her distinguishing features is to work arduously and skillfully. She would work extra hours of her own accord when time is pressing and the task heavy. Since February 1997, she has taught intensive English reading to our freshmen and sophomores. Her classes are always well attended. I have sat in on a couple of her classes. I found that she has a wide range of knowledge. Her classes are not confined to book learning. Sometimes, she would tell her students her own experience on how to avoid making mistakes and how to learn English well. Since Ms. Hao is stern in class, and very genial after class, she earned the affection and respect of her colleagues as well as her students.
Every year, our department would have one or two young teachers going abroad to improve their English and teaching method. After they come back, they will refresh our department with the advanced experience they learned from abroad.
